Role description: Arcadis are looking to recruit an Equipment and Logistics Engineer to support our Geotechnical, Geoenvironmental and Environmental Planning Operations across the UK. The successful candidate will work within a wider team located in our Depot in Gloucester. The role requires you to take responsibility for managing the maintenance, and distribution of equipment and materials necessary for operations. This role involves optimizing logistics operations, ensuring the timely delivery of resources, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. The engineer will be expected to collaborate with Project teams and Service leads to enhance efficiency and minimize costs while maintaining high performance standards. Based on the nature of Arcadis works from this premises previous experience with some of the following plant and equipment would be beneficial but is not essential as training will be provided: Soil and Groundwater sampling kit such as Dip Meters, Interface Probes, LEL, PID’s. Geotechnical instrumentation such as Inclinometers and Vibrating Wire Piezometers. Ground Investigation (Drilling Rigs and ancillary tooling) and Remediation Plan (pumps, generators, compressors etc). Ecology Survey and Noise Monitoring equipment. Whilst the role will be based at our new Gloucester Depot periodic travel to sites or Arcadis other store locations across the UK may be required. Reasonable expenses associated with this travel will be reimbursed in line with Arcadis’ expense policy. Role accountabilities: Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Equipment Management: Oversee the selection, acquisition, installation, and maintenance of equipment. Ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with regulations. Coordinate inspections, repairs, and upgrades of machinery and tools. Implement and where appropriate develop, equipment lifecycle management plans. Logistics Operations: Plan and coordinate the transportation, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment. Work across project teams to optimize transportation routes and minimize costs. Inventory and Supply Chain: Manage inventory levels to ensure operational needs are met without overstocking. Establish relationships with suppliers and where appropriate negotiate contracts for equipment and services. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in equipment and logistics operations and recommend solutions. Implement technologies and tools to streamline logistics processes. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all equipment and logistics activities comply with industry standards and regulations. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols. Train staff on proper equipment usage and safety procedures. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with operations, procurement, and project teams to align logistics strategies with organizational goals. Coordinate with external vendors and service providers. Qualifications & Experience: Relevant vocational qualification(s); Experience of logistics software (e.g. InspHire, SAP or Oracle). Knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice, equipment standards and HSE guidance preferable but not essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Commercial awareness around the utilisation of plant and equipment. Motivated and able to work independently. Effective time management skills. Why Arcadis?
