Finance Assistant

Location: Exeter / Hybrid

Salary: Up to £35k DOE

About the Organisation

We’re supporting a growing UK business that’s looking to expand its finance function with a hands‑on Finance Assistant. The Role

This is a broad and varied finance position where you’ll support the day‑to‑day running of the company’s financial operations. Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you’ll take ownership of core transactional tasks, month‑end support and supplier/customer queries. It’s well suited to someone who is organised, accurate and enjoys being involved across all areas of finance within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

* Process invoices, payments and credit notes
* Maintain accurate supplier and customer records
* Resolve queries with internal teams and external contacts


Banking & Reconciliations

* Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
* Monitor cash flow and support the Finance Manager with daily financial updates


Month‑End Support

* Assist with journals and reporting
* Support budgeting, forecasting and year‑end tasks as required


Payroll & Expenses

* Prepare payroll inputs and staff expense processes
* Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant


General Finance Administration

* Maintain financial documentation and filing systems
* Provide ad‑hoc support to the finance team as the business grows

What We’re Looking For

* Experience in a Finance Assistant or Accounts Assistant position
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (essential) – confident navigating the system, maintaining accurate records and supporting day‑to‑day finance processes
* Confident using additional accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage or QuickBooks)
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organisation
* A proactive, adaptable approach and willingness to learn
* Ideally AAT qualified or working towards it
