A friendly and inclusive primary school in Barry is looking for a committed and caring General Classroom Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with young children and supporting their early learning and development.
Role Overview:
You will work alongside class teachers to support pupils aged 4–11 across Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. Your role will be varied and rewarding—helping with daily lessons, supporting small group activities, and assisting children who need extra help to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
* Work one-to-one or in small groups with children needing additional support.
* Assist with classroom routines, displays, and preparation of learning resources.
* Encourage positive behaviour and social skills.
* Foster a safe, happy, and supportive learning environment.
* Experience working with primary-aged children (school, nursery, youth work, or volunteering).
* A warm, patient, and flexible approach.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* A genuine interest in education and child development.
* An Enhanced DBS check (or be willing to undergo one).
* A supportive, welcoming school team and leadership.
