We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Health and Safety Officer who can lead by example and support health and safety compliance in our organisation. About the role This is an exciting time to join a team where no two days are the same. With a wide variety of services and activities across the Council, you will have a varied and rewarding role, including: Leading, developing and delivering our health and safety strategy. Acting as a central point of expertise for departments, teams and managers. Delivering professional leadership, advice and support across services. Assessing monitoring and performance in line with our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Compliance Framework. Working with a high level of autonomy and influencing teams across the organisation. This is a fast-paced, high impact role where your work will contribute in delivering one of the most visible services we provide. Who we’re looking for We’d love to hear from you if you: Are well organised and remain calm, focused and professional when under pressure. Have demonstrable experience in a health and safety role. Understand safe working practices and have experience writing risk assessments and management of controls and actions. Have experience in accident and incident investigations. Have experience in managing regulatory matters with governing bodies. Have excellent customer service skills and be skilled at building relationships across all levels of the Council. Have good written and verbal communication skills and are detail focussed in report writing and presentation in meetings. Are able to challenge and investigate where needed. Have strong audit and evaluation skills. This is a full-time position. Applicants must show how they meet the role criteria as described in the Role Specification.
