Our Children and Young People's (CYP) Mental Health SupportTeams are working with children and young people who are experiencing mild tomoderate mental health issues. This includes working with parents/caregivers ofPrimary School age pupils and working with Secondary schools and colleges todevelop the support they offer the whole school community. It aims tostrengthen the links between education, health services and families in Harlow,Epping Forest and Uttlesford.
Purposeof the Job: You will be working in amulti-disciplinary team and will be responsible for managing and providingclinical and case management supervision to other team members. You will alsohold your own small caseload and deliver MHST interventions in schools. Primarily the team members will include Qualified andTrainee Educational Mental Health Practitioners, who will deliver group andindividual low intensity CBT interventions to children and young people andsome support packages for parents/caregivers. As part of this programme, you will need to be successful in yourapplication to attend and receive training in supervision, provided by aUniversity to support this area of your work. Trainingcourse is one years duration and requires approximately 20 days attendance atuniversity over the year along with course work and assignments. Additional study time and support will be provided. Note,successful completion of this training is a requirement for this role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will havean active caseload of children and adolescents with mild moderate emotionaland mental health difficulties and will use evidence-based therapeutic models.Low intensity, early interventions will be delivered in a range of educationsettings (primary, secondary, and colleges). The work will also includetraining for education professionals and developing the teams ability to servethe needs of the whole school community including children and young personscaregivers.
You will work with CYP andfamilies from different cultural backgrounds, using interpreters whennecessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities. You will alsowork closely with colleagues and partners in the Local Authority, SET CAMHS, educationsettings where interventions are being delivered and other relevant mentalhealth providers.

1. Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Management
Provide clinical and casemanagement supervision, including support through observations and modelling,to team members who are undertaking EMHP training in CBT evidence-basedpractice
Support the EMHPs todevelop and maintain a working relationship with education settings
Support the EMHPs indelivering a Whole School Approach service
Support the EMHPs todevelop their clinical progression during and after training
Support the EMHPs inassessing, reporting and managing any client risk
Support the EMHPs to ensuredata is inputted to EPR (Iaptus) within 48hours of clinical contact
As required, liaise with educational settings
As required, liaise with training universityregarding trainee EMHP progress

Clinical and Client Care
Assess and developevidence-based treatment plans to meet the mild - moderate needs of CYP with arange of emotional and mental health difficulties
Support children and youngpeople, their parents/carers, families and educators in the self-management ofpresenting difficulties
Work in partnership withchildren, young people, their families and educators in the developmentoftheir careplans, includingspecific interventionsandagreeing outcomes
Deliver evidence-based,low intensity interventions for CYP aged 5-18 with mild moderate emotionaland mental health difficulties
Show evidence in a varietyof forms that at all timesassessment and intervention is provided from aninclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity
Undertake accurateassessments of risk to self and others and support supervisees to do the same
Make decisions onsuitability of new referrals, adhering to the services referral protocols,refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referralagent as necessary
Maintain comprehensiverecordsof all training and clinical activity in line with both health andeducation service protocols and use these records and outcome data to informdecision-making
Ensure outcome measures( SDQ, RCADS) are routinely embedded in your clinical work and that ofthose you line-manage
Complete all requirementsrelating to data collectionand report clinical outcomes and serviceaccess data into the digital patient record system
Promote the mental andemotional health of children and young people in education settings, throughclinical interventions in the care pathway
Practice, evidence,reflect on and demonstrate an ability to manage ones own caseload inconjunction with the requirements of the team
Attend multi-disciplinaryand multi-agency meetings relating to referrals or children and young people intreatment, where appropriate, both for personal educational benefit indiscussion with supervisors,orto provide direct assistance
Show evidence of workingwithin a collaborative approach, involving a range of relevant others whenindicated. Specifically, work in collaboration with teachers and othereducational staff, parents, children, young people and the wider community toenhance and broaden access to mental health services

2. Familiarity with CBT evidence-base, both within clinical training and delivering interventions.
3. Direct clinical experience (autonomously providing assessment, developing treatment plans and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions) with CYP aged 5-18 with mental health difficulties.
4. Knowledge and direct clinical experience of adapting interventions and delivering them to CYP.
5. Experience of routine clinical outcome monitoring.
6. Experience of clinical risk assessment.
7. Understanding of child development and psychosocial influences.
8. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary mental health team/environment.
9. Experience of providing clinical supervision and case management. Experience of supervising team members.

Training course is one years duration and requires approximately 20 days attendance at university over the year along with course work and asignments. Additional study time and support will be provided.
