Salary: £14 - 15.50 p/h
Hours: Full-time
We are seeking a motivated, organised and enthusiastic Librarian to join our vibrant secondary school in the heart of Tower Hamlets. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting reading, literacy and independent learning across the school.
The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of the school library, creating a welcoming and inclusive space that supports students' academic progress, wellbeing and love of reading.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop the school library as a calm, engaging and purposeful learning environment
Support students with reading, research and independent study
Promote reading for pleasure and information literacy across Key Stages 3-5
Organise, catalogue and maintain library resources (print and digital)
Work closely with teaching staff to support curriculum learning
Supervise students using the library during the school day
Support literacy initiatives and events such as reading programmes and book fairs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience working in a library or educational setting (desirable)
A passion for reading, literacy and young people's learning
Strong organisational and ICT skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
