Overview
Community Care Resources provides support to adults over the age of 16 years who have assessed needs. The majority of people who use our services are older adults who require support to continue to live independently in their own homes, attend Day Support or require 24‑hour care in a residential care setting.
Responsibilities
Social Care Workers Practitioners are responsible for providing person‑centred care to individuals in their own home and within residential care centres to enable them to achieve their goals and identified priorities. The role includes ensuring that individuals receive high standards of intimate personal care and social activities, meaningful activity in accordance with their identified needs and wishes and helping to retain their level of independence and dignity. This includes rehabilitation and providing development opportunities to meet the needs of individuals and support them, as far as possible, to avoid danger and harm.
Qualifications & Contract
This vacancy is advertised as a Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity. The Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role. The entry level requirements and expected career progression route are outlined in the attached Career Grade document. Where a qualification is required, it will be fully funded by the Council.

* This post is career graded – salary and career progression will depend on experience and qualifications.
* Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour.
* Permanent part‑time post for 21.0 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.
* Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update before a formal offer is made.
* The successful candidate must complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council when they begin in post.
* A relocation package does not apply.
* Interview expenses are covered within Shetland.
* Flexible working is available.
