Senior Piping Engineer role at Wood within the Systems Integration team (Wood Consulting). The role involves creating and reviewing designs, drawings, specifications and other engineering deliverables for existing and new technology to support UK projects.
The Role
A Senior Piping Engineer uses technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and deliver a range of engineering deliverables with limited guidance. Evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Under general supervision, performs conventional design engineering and analysis and acts as document originator.
Hybrid Working and Requirements
Hybrid working with on-site Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines. Occasional travel to client sites. Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

Responsibilities
* Establishes detailed designs and performance specifications to fulfil assigned general specifications for components, systems, processes, etc.
* Plans and carries out tasks with guidance from instructions, policies and precedents
* Responsible for meeting discipline cost and schedule requirements in production of deliverables; coordinates own work and prepares progress reports
* Recommends changes in plans and estimated costs when necessary
* Reviews vendor documents
* Conducts problem solving involving new concepts and varied problems requiring technical interpretation
* Develops alternative solutions, identifies risks and benefits
* In consultancy areas, may deliver small-scale projects with responsibility for cost, schedule, resources and risk within established plans
* Provides technical input and support to proposals
* Develops solutions to non-recurring problems by appraising precedents and data
* Develops a range of engineering deliverables, including specifications, calculations, reports, requisitions and other documents
* Interprets specifications and investigates difficulties
* Exercises professional judgement in selecting and interpreting information and adjusting standard methods

Expected
* Bachelors (minimum) or Masters (preferred) degree in an engineering discipline
* Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates
* Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, processes and procedures
* Ability to create functional and cost-effective designs meeting complex specifications with limited support
* Ownership of conceptual design
* Experienced user of relevant specialist engineering software
