Job Description Here at the Transport Hub, one of our key roles is to provide high quality day service transport for vulnerable adults. Using our fleet of wheelchair accessible minibuses, we enable older people and those with learning disabilities to access day care services across the county. To help support us in this work, we’re looking for a caring and enthusiastic passenger assistant to join our team in the Hastings and St Leonards area. Our transport services exist to support vulnerable people, many of whom may be older, or living with health conditions or disabilities which mean they cannot travel independently. As a passenger assistant, you’ll work with our driver to ensure that our passengers are supported to travel safely and in comfort. In this role you’ll learn the practical skills needed to assist people with limited mobility, to secure wheelchair passengers and operate tail lifts, as well as the adaptability and soft skills needed to support people with conditions such as dementia. This post is a permanent position for 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Your standard working hours will be based on split shifts from 8.00am - 10.30am and 2.30pm - 5.00pm. It’s vitally important to us that our staff are equipped with the knowledge they need to do their jobs well. We will provide all necessary training, including our two-day, in-house ‘Fast Track’ training course, which covers key aspects of minibus passenger safety - including practical skills such as use of tail lifts, wheelchair restraint systems and evacuation procedures.
