Offer description

A lady from Ammanford requires a Personal Assistant for 10 hours per week, spread over 3 days with a late‑morning start (11 am). She has difficulty sleeping, which often affects her the following morning. The PA must be flexible within working hours of 9 am‑5 pm, and one weekend day may be required. The lady is an adult with ongoing mental health conditions that impact her ability to manage daily living tasks, maintain her home, attend appointments, and engage in her community. She would like support to work toward greater independence, stability, and improved health, and requires consistent support to achieve this.


Key Support Tasks

* Manage and maintain her physical and mental health
* Live in a safe and habitable home environment
* Access the community and reduce isolation
* Develop and maintain motivation to make positive lifestyle changes
* Build her confidence and work toward greater independence


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
2. Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
3. Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
4. Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
5. Providing companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation and providing social interaction
6. Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
7. Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during working hours
8. Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours
9. Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act
10. Being mindful of safeguarding issues and reporting any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately (01267 228751)
11. Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if the employer requires medical assistance


Relationships and Communication

1. Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer
2. Upward ability to undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner
3. Capability to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary

3. Proactive and self‑motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
4. Good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives
5. Good time‑keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer's requirements
6. Ability to keep simple records such as time recording
7. Good communication skills, able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required
8. Capability to develop long‑term supportive and consistent relationships with employers
9. A full, clean driving licence; vehicle use is likely required depending on the employer's needs and proximity
10. Prepared to have business use on vehicle insurance to utilise the vehicle within work hours
11. Prepared to undergo training to best meet the employer's needs
