Job Description
At Leonardo, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Sales lead to join our Sensors sales team with a specific focus on Complex Weapons in the United Kingdom (UK), with ambitions to expand exports through targeted campaigns.
The Sales lead is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing new business opportunities. This involves engaging closely with customers, industry partners, and end-users in the UK and internationally to close deals that meet sales targets.
The Sales lead reports to the Head of Sales for the Sensors business unit, managing key stakeholder relationships and developing strategies to meet both customer and business needs. The role requires working with industry partners in the UK and abroad, and managing relationships with external stakeholders.
This role will serve as the primary external Leonardo contact for the Precision Guidance business area, working closely with the internal teams to ensure strategic coherence and providing feedback for product development. An understanding of global Complex Weapons developments is advantageous.
External engagement with customers, weapons primes, and end-users is critical. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and credibility in negotiations involving both technical and commercial solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and deliver a portfolio of campaigns and sales opportunities to meet forecast targets.
* Identify and generate new business in Complex Weapons, including exports.
* Achieve or exceed annual sales goals.
* Develop bespoke strategies and determine pricing for pursuits aligned with global strategies.
* Serve as the main Leonardo contact for the Precision Guidance line of business.
* Provide SME knowledge to the Precision Guidance teams.
* Maintain relationships with customers and end-users.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including marketing and capability teams.
* Track opportunities and present prospects to senior leadership for approval.
* Identify and validate future sales opportunities.
* Support marketing and communication events.
* Assist in preparing business cases for new capabilities.
Person Specification
* Experience and knowledge in the defense sector, particularly in Complex Weapons.
* Self-motivated with the ability to set and achieve planning goals.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Innovative thinker capable of navigating complex international sales environments.
* Experience with export campaigns and UK MOD influence.
* Proven track record in managing strategic defense campaigns.
* Excellent communication, influence, and presentation skills.
* Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders across industry, government, and international partners.
* Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays in the UK and abroad.
