This is a hands-on Managing Director opportunity to run a respected specialist technical services business as if it were your own — with genuine autonomy, influence, and a clear succession journey. Mercury Hampton Ltd has been exclusively retained with a highly regarded facilities services contractor operating across the North West. The business has built an outstanding reputation through service excellence, long-term client relationships and consistently delivering critical compliance-led technical solutions. The founder is stepping back from the day-to-day running of the company into a more strategic position, creating a rare opportunity for a high-calibre Managing Director to take full operational ownership and lead the next stage of growth. The organisation delivers a range of specialist FM and technical services including drainage, environmental maintenance, commercial cleaning and wider property support solutions. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will be instrumental in scaling the business while maintaining the high standards and culture that underpin its success. This is a true “take the reins” MD role — leading people, performance, profitability and growth. As you demonstrate the right behaviours and results, the founder will step further away from operations, while remaining supportive strategically. Key Responsibilities: Business Leadership: Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the business, ensuring operational excellence and strong financial performance. Operational Oversight: Lead service delivery teams across multi-site contracts, driving utilisation, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Client Management: Maintain and strengthen relationships with key accounts while identifying opportunities for contract expansion and new partnerships. Revenue & Growth: Drive sustainable growth through new business development, service enhancement and strategic market positioning. Team Development: Lead, mentor and build a high-performing, accountable culture across operational and commercial functions. Strategic Input: Collaborate with the founder and board to shape long-term direction, structure and scalable growth plans. Qualifications and Experience: Technical FM / Specialist Services Background: Strong experience within technical facilities services, drainage, environmental, property maintenance or compliance-led contracting. Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to manage P&L, margins, pricing and growth within a service-led business. Operational Leadership: Experience leading field-based teams and delivering highquality, customer-focused services. SME Mindset: Comfortable in an owner-led environment where autonomy, pace and accountability are key. Attitude & Drive: This role is about ambition and leadership — the right person will be supported into a long-term succession opportunity.
