About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Engineer with experience in rail

infrastructure to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to

complex geotechnical projects, providing technical support and innovation within the rail sector.

What you'll be doing

Support geotechnical design and assessment projects for rail infrastructure, ensuring

compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Assist senior engineers through design and analysis activities.

Contribute to the specification and supervision of geotechnical site investigations, ground modelling, foundation design, and slope stability assessments.

Prepare and assist in the review of geotechnical design reports, risk assessments, and

design documentation.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil and structural engineers, to

integrate geotechnical solutions within rail projects.

Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, Eurocodes, and other relevant UK

geotechnical regulations.

Apply innovative approaches and emerging technologies in geotechnical engineering to

enhance project outcomes.

Who we're looking for

Ideally working towards chartership with a relevant institution (ICE, GeolSoc, or equivalent).

Experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within the rail infrastructure sector.

Understanding of UK railway geotechnical standards, including Network Rail guidelines.

Experience contributing to geotechnical projects from feasibility through to construction.

Familiarity with geotechnical software such as GEO5, PLAXIS, WALLAP, SLOPE/W, or

similar.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound engineering judgments.

Good communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to a range of

audiences.
