Job Summary
To provide high quality consultant-led care to patients, including clinical leadership and supervision of resident medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients attending the Emergency Department.
To be proactive in ensuring that all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision-making, whilst ensuring the Emergency Access Standards are adhered to, delivering safe, high-quality care.
Patient safety, dignity and care are the highest priority and at the centre of all that we do.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly visible and focused clinical leadership while working in conjunction with the nurse in charge of the shift to ensure effective and timely communication between the clinical team and maintaining optimal patient flow.
* Provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise and train resident doctors in emergency medicine, emergency nurse practitioners, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
* Take on a proactive role in the care group's clinical governance agenda and support continuous learning and improvement, abiding by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the Trust.
* Support safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults by implementing the Trust's policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
Qualifications
* Full Fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM).
Training
* Be within 6 months of completing the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or becoming Independent Specialist (CESR).
Experience
* Experience in an Emergency Department.
* Awareness of the managerial role of a consultant.
