The Covid Public Inquiries Unit for the Directorate for Population Health, co-ordinates and drives Population Health's response to the demands of the UK and Scottish Covid Inquiries, as well as the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Investigation into the circumstances of some COVID-19 deaths. You will be responsible for leading and supporting a small team to continue to develop and finalise the archive of population health activities and decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic response, and to lead the population health response to the questions coming from the Inquiries and witnesses appearing before them. It is key that in doing so you support the corporate objective of meeting the Scottish Government's responsibility to provide the best evidence available to the COVID Inquiries while also identifying lessons which will allow the Scottish Government and its partners to be better prepared to respond to future infectious outbreaks and pandemics. Responsibilities Lead a Unit to provide accurate and complete archiving of key parts of the Scottish Government's COVID-19 response. Responsible for the co-ordination, drafting and quality assurance of accurate, high quality and useful responses to Inquiry and COPFS investigation demands. Demonstrate awareness of the legal issues associated with responding to a judge-led Inquiry or COPFS Investigation Manage the team to ensure business objectives are met within budget and resourcing constraints, while supporting wellbeing and learning and development needs of the team. As part of the senior management team of the Population Health Resilience and Protection Division, contribute to a busy and strong division, including taking a share of the response to emerging health protection challenges. Represent Directors and Deputy Directors' interests in relevant strategic meetings and document development to ensure Population Health interests are fairly represented in wider SG decision-making. Technical / Professional Skills: Parliament and Law - Practitioner Level - Understand the legal framework applicable to your policy role. You can demonstrate a sound knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of public law. Working with Ministers - Practitioner Level - In particular drafts documents that are logically structured, contain carefully assimilated information and evidence that presents a full and balanced picture with a persuasive conclusion.
