SEN Cover Supervisor – Aberdare, RCT, South Wales
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Cover Supervisor to provide support within a Pupil Referral Service located in Aberdare, RCT. The ideal candidate will possess strong behaviour management skills and a solid understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), SEBD (Social, Emotional Behaviour Difficulties), and EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties). This SEN Cover Supervisor role involves working with learners primarily in Key Stage 3 and 4, supporting their educational journey in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
As a SEN Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for covering a variety of subjects and activities, leading classroom sessions with the assistance of teaching assistants. This position offers a full-time, long-term commitment from Monday to Friday, with hours from 8.30am to 3pm, aiming to become a vital part of the school’s team from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and support classrooms of learners across Key Stage 3 and 4
* Prepare classrooms for lessons and deliver a range of subject-based activities prepared by absent teachers
* Maintain classroom control and manage behaviour effectively
* Engage learners through both classroom and laboratory-based activities
* Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm for delivering a variety of subjects
* Comply with the school’s behaviour management policies and safeguarding procedures
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
* Minimum of three months experience working with children, particularly with SEMH, SEBD, and EBD is highly advantageous
* Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is desirable; support can be provided
* Current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
* Right to work within the UK
* Demonstrated ability to manage behaviour and build positive relationships with learners
