Retail Banking HR Director Role key accountabilities:
* Act as a trusted advisor to Retail Banking ExCo members on people-related matters, enhancing colleague performance and customer experience.
* Develop the People Strategy aligned with Business Objectives and Key Results.
* Partner with Retail Bank Senior Leadership to design and implement the Operating Model, leveraging colleagues, technology, data, and OKRs.
* Understand and co-design the Retail Bank Workforce Strategy to optimize performance.
* Prioritize colleague interventions to maximize opportunity and performance, focusing on:
o Agile Ways of Working
o Internal productivity
o Product and Proposition expertise
o Digital, Data, and CX skills
o Transformation experience
o People Leadership capability
* Challenge silos and groupthink, supporting leadership strategy and operations.
* Provide ad-hoc advice to MD-level leaders on people issues, such as cultural trends and senior ER matters.
* Be a thought leader within Barclays UK HR Team and the wider HR function.
Purpose of the role
Partner with senior HR leaders to develop and implement a people strategy that supports business goals.
Accountabilities
* Design and deliver the people strategy, using insights to identify trends and opportunities.
* Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure delivery of HR initiatives.
* Advise senior leaders on people issues to improve performance, addressing cultural trends, ER issues, talent gaps, etc.
* Contribute to HR product design, ensuring alignment with business needs and external insights.
Director Expectations
* Manage a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives and policy development.
* Lead a large team or projects, embedding a performance culture and guiding less experienced staff.
* Advise senior management and influence decisions beyond own function.
* Oversee resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation.
* Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
* Monitor and influence external environment and regulators.
* Maintain industry and sector knowledge, applying insights to the function.
* Use analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
* Make strategic decisions and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Represent the function externally and internally as a spokesperson.
