The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our client operations team. This is a hands-on role involving programming, setting, and running CNC machining centres, producing high-quality components primarily in Aluminium and Stainless Steel. You will also support and supervise production staff operating CNC Lathes as required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated machinist who takes pride in precision, quality, and continuous improvement.
Shift Patterns
Day Shift

Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30 (30-minute unpaid lunch)
*
Friday: 08:00 – 14:00
Late Shift
Monday to Thursday: 16:30 – 01:00 (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Friday: 14:00 – 20:00
Flexibility to work across shift patterns is required.
Pay & Benefits
£18.00 per hour
12% shift premium for late shift
Overtime paid at x1.5
Key Responsibilities
*
Program, set, and operate CNC machines to meet daily production targets
*
Interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
*
Set up machines, tooling, and programs to produce precision components
*
Carry out first-off inspections and self-checks to ensure quality standards are met
*
Provide technical support and guidance to other team members
*
Maintain accurate documentation for CNC paths, tooling, and features
*
Report defects and production issues to Shift Leaders or Supervisors
*
Perform basic testing, quality checks, and daily machine maintenance
*
Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and regulations
*
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
*
Work in line with the approved production plan and complete timesheets accurately
*
Contribute ideas to improve productivity and efficiency
*
Assist with manufacturing and quality issue resolution using root cause analysis
*
Support coaching and mentoring of new employees and apprentices
*
Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives across shop operations
*
Carry out any additional duties required to meet departmental objectives

Requirements
*
Minimum of 1 year’s experience using Siemens and Heidenhain controls (highly advantageous)
*
Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred
*
Previous experience in a CNC manufacturing environment
*
Strong team player with the ability to work independently using own initiative
*
Flexible approach to shift work
*
Good communication skills at all levels
*
Willingness to learn new processes and support cross-departmental working
*
Commitment to continuous improvement and business objectives
*
Well organised with strong attention to detail
