Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Manager to take a strategic lead in shaping and expanding a global supply base, supporting ambitious business growth from the heart of Barnsley.

This role offers you the chance to manage established supplier relationships across the UK and EU while spearheading the identification and development of new partnerships in Asia and North America. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring suppliers meet stringent quality and regulatory standards for international markets, all while optimising procurement spend and aligning sourcing decisions with long-term growth plans. With some overseas travel required to audit, negotiate, and strengthen supplier relationships, this position is perfect for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys working cross-functionally, and is passionate about embedding sustainable practices into every aspect of procurement. Flexible working options are available, allowing you to balance your professional ambitions with personal commitments, all within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

* Take ownership of global supplier expansion initiatives, focusing on both established and emerging markets to support rapid business growth and ensure robust supply chain resilience.
* Lead the identification, qualification, and onboarding of new suppliers with an emphasis on developing strong partnerships in Asia and North America to diversify the global supply base.
* Conduct overseas visits to suppliers for audits, contract negotiations, and relationship building, ensuring that all partners meet rigorous quality, compliance, and multilingual packaging standards required for international markets.
* Drive commercial negotiations on pricing, contracts, and volume agreements to secure competitive advantages while maintaining cost efficiency and safeguarding product quality.
* Optimise procurement spend by analysing supplier performance data, managing lead times, and ensuring continuity of supply even during periods of market volatility or disruption.
* Collaborate closely with sales, operations, product development, and marketing teams to align procurement strategies with business growth objectives, market demand forecasts, and successful product launches.
* Maintain oversight of upcoming product launches, seasonal demand fluctuations, and promotional activities to ensure effective planning and inventory management.
* Integrate supplier lead times and global logistics considerations into strategic planning processes to anticipate risks and capitalise on market opportunities.
* Provide direction and mentorship to the Purchasing Officer by developing their skills in supplier management, negotiation techniques, and best procurement practices.
* Champion cross-departmental collaboration to embed procurement into strategic decision-making processes throughout the organisation.
* Ensure all packaging and sourcing practices comply with international regulations including those governing EU and U.S. markets while proactively monitoring global risks such as geopolitical shifts or currency fluctuations.

What you bring

To excel as Procurement Manager you will bring substantial experience gained within procurement or supply chain roles ideally from fast-moving consumer goods environments where agility is key. Your background should include hands-on involvement with contract manufacturers both domestically and internationally; this exposure equips you to navigate cultural nuances during negotiations or audits abroad. You’ll have honed your ability to forecast demand accurately by leveraging data-driven insights while maintaining optimal stock levels even during peak seasons or unexpected disruptions. Your familiarity with packaging artwork coordination means you can seamlessly bridge gaps between creative teams and operational requirements ensuring products are always market-ready.

* A minimum of 3–5 years' experience in procurement or supply chain management within household consumer goods or similar sectors is essential for this role.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with contract manufacturers as well as overseas suppliers across multiple continents is highly valued.
* Proven track record in forecasting demand accurately, planning inventory requirements efficiently, and managing stock levels proactively is required.
* Experience coordinating packaging artwork including collaborating with design agencies or internal marketing teams is important for success in this position.
* Exceptional project management skills combined with advanced negotiation abilities are necessary for handling complex commercial agreements.
* High proficiency in using procurement tools such as Excel along with comfort navigating ERP systems is expected from applicants.
