The Role
This position is part of the Sensor Systems Radar Business in Fareham. Saab UK is recruiting for several ILS roles from diverse backgrounds and skillsets. We offer an exciting opportunity for a Technical Author to join a close-knit team. The main responsibility is producing and maintaining system technical manuals to recognized international standards, delivering high-quality technical publications for various equipment within the Defence sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Analyze, define, and create technical publications to military specifications.
2. Produce and maintain customer-focused technical documentation.
3. Create and manage product data sheets, service bulletins, control documents, and drawings.
4. Distribute Engineering Advice Notes according to Saab quality standards.
5. Assist in training sessions at Saab facilities, customer sites, and remotely via digital platforms.
6. Regularly travel nationally and internationally.
7. Collaborate with the Training and Product Information Team to develop training programs and assist in training new staff.
8. Provide accurate progress reports upon request.
9. Work within budget and adhere to delivery schedules.
10. Communicate with customers, engineers, and SMEs to develop technical documentation.
11. Stay updated with documentation standards and practices.
12. Follow internal processes and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Experience in developing technical documentation for electronic systems.
* Proficiency with single-source authoring software and familiarity with online learning tools.
* Knowledge of the S1000D standard for technical publications.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
* Experience with sensor or radar systems.
* Recognized training qualification.
* Skills in producing digital media for training.
* Familiarity with graphic design and 3D rendering software.
