Job Description

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 per week - Shift is 06:00am to 14:00pm then 10:00am to 18:00pm on rotating weeks (Monday to Friday)

Working Type: Onsite Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £39,513 (Level one) rising to £42,708 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Location: Shannon Workshop, Eastcroft Depot, London Road, Nottingham, NG2 3AH

About The Role

The Fleet Services team are looking for a qualified and experienced Workshop Controller to work in the Shannon Workshop at Eastcroft Depot. The Shannon Workshop provides a repair and maintenance service for both the Councils internal fleet and a number of external customers, which includes a diverse range of HGVs, light vehicles and road-going plant.

The successful candidate will work as part of a workshop management team to deliver an extensive programme of vehicle maintenance, repair, inspection and examination. They will work to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, the legal requirements of the Councils Operators Licence, DVSA requirements and internal Council policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will also be able to work on their own initiative and to strict deadlines; at all times ensuring that a high quality standard of work is delivered.

The role is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking local authority who are looking to expand their commercial fleet business.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:


* City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent
* Qualified to DVSA standards for HGV inspections and tests
* Possess a full driving licence with category C entitlement
* Experience of workshop management in relation to maintenance, inspection, repair and test services for a diverse range of HGVs, light vehicles and road-going plant
* Experience of managing staff
* Ability to work on own initiative and to meet strict deadlines
