Artemis Human Capital is proud to be exclusively recruiting for a founder-led, growing business based in Belfast City Centre, seeking an experienced and dependable Finance Manager to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations. This is a standalone finance role, reporting directly to the Managing Director, with responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth running of all accounting and finance processes. You will play a key part in supporting decision-making and business growth by providing clear, timely and accurate financial information. Key Responsibilities Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Oversee credit control, ensuring timely customer payments and managing debtors effectively Bank reconciliations in Xero and using bank statements to ensure accuracy of financial data Liaise with external accountants regarding VAT returns, Corporation Tax payments, National Insurance contributions and year-end accounts Maintain a strong understanding of expense VAT rules (zero-rated, exempt, etc.) and ensure compliance in all transactions Process staff expenses, ensuring correct procedures and approvals are followed Administer payroll processes, including commission calculations, checking tax codes and payslips, and liaising with an external payroll specialist Post monthly payroll journals and reconcile related accounts Handle banking duties, including payments, deposits and managing online banking systems Communicate with clients and suppliers to resolve queries or discrepancies with invoices or payments Manage supplier procurement portals and ensure supplier information is up to date Obtain and coordinate annual insurance quotes and renewals Attend a monthly meeting with the Managing Director to review profit and loss performance Provide weekly financial updates, including cost and spend tracking (fee spreadsheet) Monitor company spending and look for opportunities to reduce costs or improve efficiencies (e.g. reviewing unused phone lines or supplier contracts) Maintain accurate and confidential financial records in line with best practice and company policies Qualifications and Experience Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Finance Manager or in a similar standalone finance role Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles Proficiency in Xero (or similar accounting software) and Microsoft Excel Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Confident communicator, able to liaise with suppliers, clients, and external accountants Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines Knowledge of VAT, payroll and management reporting essential AAT qualification or equivalent desirable but not essential Personal Attributes Self-motivated, proactive and organised Professional, trustworthy and discreet when handling confidential information Hands-on and practical approach to problem-solving Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Enjoys working collaboratively in a dynamic, collegiate and founder-led environment Salary & Benefits £competitve salary based upon experience and qualification 35 days annual leave (including statutory holidays) Hybrid working after probation period (2 days working from home per week) Early finish every Friday Pension contribution Supportive, dynamic and collegiate working culture Opportunity to work closely with the Managing Director and have a direct impact on the companys success and growth Next Steps To apply for this role, share your cv with our Associate Director Nicola McCallum who is shortlisting for this position NOW.
