You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,299 + excellent benefits.The Descriptive Operator will be responsible for carrying out reactive and planned work as scheduled to deliver the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Waste Water Treatment Works and Sewage Pumping Stations.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Carrying out on-site monitoring of treated wastewater and associated plant to ensure effective site operation and that compliance requirements are maintained
2. Responding effectively to site conditions and instrument monitoring information that ensures compliance is maintained and the environment is protected
3. Storing and handling chemicals in accordance with COSHH, QMS Procedures and relevant Health and Safety standards
4. Carrying out first-line maintenance on instruments & mechanical equipment
5. Carrying out calibration of equipment in order to ensure accuracy and reliability
6. Using the iSCADA control system, PCs and other computer hardware and software in order to carry out the role effectively
7. Carrying out grass-cutting, weed-killing, and general maintenance in order to maintain site conditions in accordance with relevant procedures
8. Providing accurate and timely feedback of activities completed
9. Adhering to schedules, business rules, and procedures
10. Liaising with Area Manager, Catchment Pilot, and Technical Assistants to ensure schedules are optimised
11. Liaising with Area Manager, Energy Maintenance, and other members of the team to ensure site operation and asset maintenance is optimised
12. Dealing effectively with customer queries when directly approached and passing information up the management line where appropriate
13. Regular sampling and testing of internal and external Tanker deliveries and critical site control points on the Treatment process
What we are looking for:
14. 5 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject
15. An NVQ 2 qualification in Waste Water operations is desirable
16. Experience of working in a team and an understanding of the importance of teamwork
17. Previous experience of operating and maintaining complex processes and working with modern technology
18. Proven experience of working with computers and software packages
