Job Title: Regional Liaison Engineer

Key Purpose
As a Regional Liaison Engineer, you’ll act as the operational voice throughout the lifecycle of complex, high-value wastewater treatment projects. You’ll ensure that designs are practical, resilient, and aligned with our strategic goals, supporting seamless integration into live operations and long-term asset performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Champion operational requirements from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
* Review and influence engineering designs to ensure they are operable, maintainable, and cost-effective.
* Provide expert input during detailed design and commissioning phases.
* Ensure safety‑critical processes such as Safe Control of Operations (SCO) are planned and compliant.
* Collaborate with site teams to support mobilisation, construction, and commissioning activities.
* Facilitate smooth project handovers, ensuring operational teams are fully prepared and confident.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
* Proven experience in operational or project delivery roles within the water industry.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ability to interpret technical documentation and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Practical experience with commissioning and operational handover.
* Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering—or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation (desirable).
Additional Requirements
* Must be able to hit the ground running, with a strategic mindset and a personable, adaptable approach.
* A full UK driving license is essential, as regular travel to operational sites is required.
* Participation in a call‑out rota may be required.
Package
This role will be full‑time Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week. Participation in a call‑out rota may be required.
Southern Water operates a hybrid approach to working between the office location, site, and home.
