Spencer Quantum is seeking to appoint a Geotechnical Technician to join their growing South West team on a full time, permanent basis.
As a Geotechnical Site Technician, you will work closely with the wider team and the majority of your workload will consist of visiting various sites and reporting back at our office premises.
The South West division delivers Geotechnical investigation and Contracting services to our clients mainly around the south west and southern regions of England, providing them with an array of services from basic Geotech site sampling and testing through to utilising our modern fleet of specialist equipment to deliver large ground investigation projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with projects across the South West and Nationally as and when required, as directed by the management team or other project staff.
Experience is preferable but we are open to creating trainee/ junior positions for the right candidates, and we encourage all levels of experience to apply.

What you'll be required to do….
* Carry out geotechnical testing in accordance with current procedures to high standards
* Carry out in-field monitoring of Water, ground and soil gas techniques.
* Liaising with clients, engineering supervisors, subcontractors and the management team.
* Assist with the delivery of projects within the wider Spencer Quantum group.
* Maintain good site working practice at all times
* Help maintain the day-to-day running of the South West Office & Yard
Do you have what it takes…?
* Hold a Full UK Valid driving license, as you will be using company vehicles to travel to and from our sites
* Able to learn quickly with on-the-job training.
* Be able to work with a varied workload.
* Be able to manage your own workload efficiently.
* Experience in a similar or cross over role is desirable but not essential
* Communication is key for this role; you should be able to relay information efficiently and effectively to the south-west team
* Willing to work away from home for short periods (Occasional overnight and possible weekend work applies to this role)
* Current CSCS card but not essential
You will be trained and supporting to achieve the following:
* Knowledge & understanding of the geotechnical test equipment and test procedures
* Knowledge of company quality policy/procedures.
* Knowledge of company H&S policy, particularly RAMS/SWS, 1st Aid arrangements, accident/incident reporting and PPE
* Understanding the significance of test results, potential factors impacting results, record keeping etc.
