Job overview Applications are invited for doctors with suitable qualifications and experience to work as a full-time senior clinical fellow in the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Princess Royal Hospital, Kingu2019s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.u00a0 This post will join the current senior clinical fellow to support the growing team.u00a0 Main duties of the job You will work as part of a Multidisciplinary team to manage the Diabetes and Endocrinology Service at the PRUH and will gain an excellent grounding in Diabetes and Endocrinology.u00a0 Clinical:u00a0 The Clinical Fellow will be responsible, together with SpR colleagues, for both inpatient and outpatient work. Inpatient:u00a0 The post holder will be expected to attend consultant led specialist inpatient reviews for Diabetes and Endocrinology. They will be expected to attend consultant ward rounds and perform personal ward rounds on the patients admitted on call under the supervising consultant(s). Outpatient:u00a0u00a0The post holder will do clinics under supervision. The post holder will be supporting the Programmed Investigations Unit by supervising investigations, interpretation of the results under consultant supervision. u00a0 No oncall rota is integrated in this post. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Diabetes & Endocrinology SpR/IMT3. The successful applicant will be part of a consultant led team which (in addition to this post) includes Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Podiatrists, CNS's, Dietitians and Pharmacists. There will be consultant ward rounds of new patients, with SpR led ward rounds of existing patients. There will be opportunity for interested individuals to carry out supervised outpatient clinics, MDTs and attend a number of sub-specialty clinics. The Appointee will be expected to assess and manage patients with the support of the consultant and using appropriate clinical guidelines. The Appointee will be able to refer patients after discussion with the managing consultant to one of the multiple multi-disciplinary meetings between doctors, nursing staff, and specialist teams. u00a0 Person specification Education and Qualifications Essential criteria MBBS/MBChB or equivalent Full Registration with GMC Desirable criteria Management course and / or qualification. Knowledge and Experience Essential criteria Wide experience in all aspects of General Internal medicine, culminating in award of CCT or equivalent. Specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology Desirable criteria Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes. Skills and Competencies Essential criteria Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams. Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and quality improvement. Experience of conducting or supporting clinical research.
