This role will provide operational support to the Perioperative and Critical Care Directorate for the day-to-day management of Theatres, Clinics, Critical Care Units and Admin Teams. They will provide assistance to the Operation’s and General Manger in the delivery of emergency, elective and outpatient lists ensuring UHSussex meets national and local targets. The post holder will also contribute and support the directorate and Operation’s and General Manager with any administrative or business planning requirements with in the Perioperative division and represent the Directorate at Divisional meeting as required.
Support the General Manger and Operations Managers with the delivery of the directorate’s objectives and support Admin and Clerical staff.
Budgetary control of the specialty Co-Ordinators and Clerical Assistants, plus involvement in managing other budgets under the direction of the Operations and General Manager
Day to day line management of administrative staff.

·Manage Administration staff to ensure that mandatory training and annual appraisals are achieved.
·Manage recruitment and selection as delegated by the Operational and General Managers
·Handle first line grievance and disciplinary matters within the administration team.
·Contribute to the working lives processes within the directorate.
·Review and manage sickness and annual leave of administration staff in accordance with trust policy
·Communicate with all staff groups within the designated areas.
·To have a knowledge and understanding of specific operating and critical pathways and play an active role in service improvement.
·To provide professional support for the directorate and to promote the delivery of high quality cost effective services.

1. Degree or Diploma or with proven and equivalent relevant knowledge and experience

2. Proven evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
3. A track record of effectively managing upwards and of delivering an efficient and effective administration service
4. Evidence of the ability to source interpret and report highly complex data
5. Experience of working within a complex, varied and unpredictable environment
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with staff at all levels throughout the trust and with external organisations on behalf of the division
