Company Description
Characters Stage School is an independent Performing Arts school for children and young people ages 4‑18 offering weekly classes in Bath, Bristol, and Trowbridge, working towards two shows per year in fully equipped professional Theatre spaces.
Role Description
Workshop leaders required in all our locations.
We’re seeking talented and enthusiastic Directors, Teachers, Musical Theatre Directors, and Choreographers to join our creative team and lead weekly musical theatre and drama classes for children and young people.
If you are currently doing a degree in Theatre Direction, Musical Theatre Direction, Performing Arts or Choreography you will be considered for main roles and assistant roles.
Roles Available
Locations: Bath (Combe Down), Bristol and Trowbridge.
To lead:
 * Stage 1 — Little Characters (ages 4–6): Creative, play‑based musical theatre and drama sessions.
 * Stage 2 — Stage School (ages 7–12): Performance‑based classes developing confidence, teamwork and stage skills.
 * Stage 3 — Stage Company (ages 12–18): Advanced classes with a focus on acting, musical theatre and new writing. We also invite interest from writers and directors developing new plays or creative projects suitable for this group – please include a short outline with your application.
Commitment
Weekly term‑time sessions, working towards a full‑scale production twice a year. Also, opportunities to direct seasonal productions and showcases, and lead our popular holiday clubs, staging a play in a week!
Qualifications
Applicants should have experience teaching or directing drama and/or musical theatre, ideally with stage school or theatre groups working with young people.

 * Previous relevant experience*
 * Strong communication skills
 * Genuine passion for developing young talent
Optional Shadowing
Opportunities to observe or assist classes during winter 2025.

Friday, November 14. We will be shortlisting week commencing Monday, November 17, with interviews taking place that week and week commencing Monday, November 24‑02‑25. For February 2026 start.
