My client designs and manufactures bespoke metal and plastic products for UK and global customers. They are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join their team in Glasgow on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities
* Lead teams focused on the design and development of new products.
* Manage and maintain processes with improvements and new initiatives.
* Review, validate and deliver the full product life cycle.
* Oversee deadlines, budgets and timescales.
* Provide technical expertise.
* BOM management working with the company ERP system.
* Appreciate Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean Manufacturing.
* Technically liaise with customers for R&D.
Qualifications
* BEng or BSc Degree qualified or similar in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* At least 5 years of experience in a Product Development / Design Engineering role within a product development environment.
* Innovative, creative and passionate about design and manufacture.
* Proficient using 3D CAD – preferably Fusion 360, but other software may be considered.
* Previous experience delivering projects from concept right through to manufacture.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Previous experience coaching, managing or leading others.
* Strong analysis, FMEA and DFM skills.
* Strong experience with Injection Moulding.
* Good understanding of materials and varied manufacturing processes and principles.
