Finance Assistant

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £26,227 per annum - 37.5 hours - Flexible with times
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our Finance team. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, and ensuring timely payments, while working closely with internal departments and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing, reconciling, and processing supplier invoices and credits.
Reviewing and processing sales invoices.
Carrying out credit control duties where required.
Processing subcontractor valuations and invoices.
Reviewing Supplier and Subcontractor Statements to ensure all invoices have been received, processed, or queried.
Assisting with the preparation of supplier and subcontractor payment runs.
Investigating, paying, and recharging penalty charges.
Processing and preparing monthly staff expenses.
Liaising with the Purchasing department and Quantity Surveyors to ensure invoices are processed efficiently.
Dealing with external and internal queries regarding invoices, payments, and processes.
Resolving and raising queries in a timely and professional manner.
Assisting with month-end and year-end requirements.
Providing holiday cover for other finance duties and tasks as required.
Undertaking any other duties as requested by the Finance Manager, Senior Managers, or Directors.
Experience
Previous experience in a finance or accounting support role is preferred.
Experience using accounting software or financial management systems is advantageous.
Experience working within a busy office environment is beneficial.
Preferred Qualifications
Qualification or working towards a qualification in accounting or finance.
Experience with Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software.
Previous experience within the public sector or charitable organisations.
