Senior Shift Engineer
We’re looking for a Senior Shift Engineer working on behalf of our Leeds Oncology contract in Leeds. This permanent full‑time role involves shifts of 4 days on (06:00‑18:00), 4 days off, followed by 4 nights (18:00‑06:00). On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview
Work alongside a dynamic maintenance team to deliver the required services, ensuring the Hospital is maintained to the highest standard.
Participate in a 4 “on” 4 “off” shift pattern.
Provide a customer‑facing highly responsive maintenance service to the Leeds Oncology Wing.
Undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks to a very high standard.
Provide technical guidance, assistance and information to other members of the maintenance team.
Carry out training to be able to provide Authorised Person duties.
Work with a high level of multi‑skilling and flexibility.
Manage a small shift team consisting of Maintenance Craftsman and Maintenance Assistants.
Responsibilities
* Lead the shift team and provide support to working colleagues.
* Carry out maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures.
* Participate in a rotating shift pattern to provide a 24/7/365 service.
* Provide cover for absent colleagues as appropriate to maintain the service.
* Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.
* Maintain, service and repair a wide range of the building services including:
* Heating and domestic water services.
* General electrical services such as lighting and power.
* Air handling units.
* Low‑voltage electrical distribution system and switchgear.
* Emergency standby generating plant.
* Fire alarm systems and emergency lighting.
* Electrical control systems.
* Building Management System.
* Maintain awareness of operational procedures and safe working practices of major items of plant and systems.
* Maintain records and complete service reports, providing regular progress reports to your line manager.
* Occasionally carry out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
* Assist other skilled trades in carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation work.
* Undertake training to maintain and develop skills in line with service requirements.
* Act as Competent or Authorised Person when directed and appointed.
* Liaise and undertake duties at other healthcare projects as directed.
* Undertake overtime as required to maintain the service.
* Perform any other duties as required, commensurate with grade.
Qualifications or Required Experience
Qualified time‑served engineer with minimum 3 years post‑apprenticeship experience required. Healthcare experience desirable but not essential. Cross‑trade experience advantageous.
