Inpatient Coordinator in Ultrasound

The closing date is 18 June 2026

We are looking for a well organised enthusiastic administrator to join our friendly team in the ultrasound department at Addenbrookes hospital. This is a busy role which will primarily involve organising ultrasound scans for patients who are on the wards or need emergency scans.


Main duties of the job

Good communication and telephone skills are essential as the role involves contacting the wards to arrange appointments and patient preparation for ultrasound scans and taking messages.

You will work closely with the sonographers, nursing staff and the radiology doctors to ensure that we deliver an efficient friendly service to the patients.

Previous experience of using computer systems will be an advantage however full training will be given.

Job responsibilities

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa unless they have applied for a Graduate visa or have completed their course and applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent NVQ level 2 Customer Service/Business Admin/ITQ or equivalent experience


Experience

* Experience of working in a busy office environment or reception role
* Experience of prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
* Working with guidelines
* Experience of customer service or dealing with the public
* Experience of using computer systems
* Experience of call handling
* Previous experience of working in the NHS
* Previous experience of working within medical records
* Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations


Knowledge

* Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
* Understanding of customer service
* Knowledge of the Trust including awareness of its priorities
* Knowledge of Trust information systems
* Knowledge of medical terminology


Skills

* Ability to work as part of a team
* Good communication skills including telephone, email and face to face
* Ability to follow processes and procedures
* High level of ability to organise and manage own time
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to meet deadlines
* Willing to take on/learn new skills
* Ability to show attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to adapt to change

* Ability to act as a chaperone after training
