What You’ll Be Doing
As a Care Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:
* Ensuring the highest possible levels of care by supporting/assisting residents with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and other daily living activities.
* Assisting residents in all aspects of their care needs (physical, emotional, and spiritual) while ensuring their comfort and dignity.
* Providing particular attention to residents with limited mobility or physical/learning difficulties, using aids provided.
* Monitoring residents who may be confused or have behavioural problems.
* Assisting in the promotion of continence.
* Assisting in care for residents who are dying or have progressive illness; assisting with last offices as required.
* Observing care planning needs and completing written daily records in line with company policies and procedures.
* Supporting social activities and helping residents continue with hobbies and activities in the home.
* Responding to nurse calls, answering the door and telephone appropriately, and passing on messages promptly.
* Reporting on residents’ well-being under supervision of senior care staff.
* Carrying out regular checks on residents at intervals determined by senior staff.
* Welcoming visitors and assisting with refreshments as required.
* Making and changing beds and maintaining clean, tidy rooms and waste disposal in line with policy; ensuring resources are used appropriately.
* Cleaning and maintaining equipment used by residents/relatives (e.g., wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles) and keeping the home clean and tidy.
* Recording participation and feedback to ensure meaningful engagement.
