A specialist SEN secondary school in Oldham is seeking a dedicated and resilient Autism Teacher to join their team from September on a temp-to-perm basis.
This rewarding role involves working with secondary-aged students who are academically working at an EYFS level and have complex Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) needs. Many pupils display behaviours that challenge, so the school is looking for a calm, consistent, and nurturing teacher who can build strong relationships and create a structured learning environment.
The Role:
* Teaching students with complex autism and additional communication needs
* Delivering engaging lessons tailored to EYFS-level learning
* Managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour strategies
* Working closely with support staff, therapists, and parents
* Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
* Experience working within SEN settings, particularly autism
* Strong behaviour management skills
* A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
* Ability to differentiate learning to meet individual needs
