Job Description:
Manpower is currently seeking 2 interim Laboratory Technicians to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. This role offers an opportunity to be part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based at our client’s scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral. It is a full-time temporary role for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation is competitive, between £24,700 - £27,445 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
This Laboratory Technician (Fragrance Lab Compounder) role involves working across all Unilever Business Groups globally, collaborating with fragrance R&D teams. The primary responsibility is to provide technical and laboratory support to accurately formulate to a given recipe, requiring high attention to detail in repetitive tasks.
You will work both proactively and independently within a multi-functional, multi-cultural environment, adhering to prescribed procedures and health and safety guidelines.
The main task is to formulate accurately to a specified recipe, demanding precision and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
* Accurately weigh materials to a defined recipe and order of addition
* Record all laboratory work accurately, including labelling
* Handle and store raw materials safely
* Coordinate with the laboratory team and raw material assistant manager regarding stock levels and requirements
* Maintain equipment cleanliness and calibration for accuracy
* Follow safety and lab management procedures (Risk Assessment, Health & Safety, Laboratory Management, Standard Procedures)
* Communicate project challenges and timing changes to the team
Key Skills
* Practical laboratory experience in sample preparation preferred, with a keen eye for safe and effective procedures
* Interest in fragrances; background in perfumery, chemistry, and formulation is advantageous
* Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently
* Awareness of safety protocols, including SOPs, risk assessments, and CoSHH
* Highly motivated, numerate, with great attention to detail and interest in products and fragrances
* Effective communication skills regarding deadlines and challenges
* Digital literacy
* Ability to remain calm under changing priorities
