Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Alnwick, Northumberland. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about education and keen to gain hands-on experience supporting young children in a positive and nurturing school environment.
You will play an important role in helping pupils with a range of learning needs access the curriculum, while also supporting their confidence, wellbeing, and personal development. This opportunity offers valuable experience for those considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, SEN support, or other child-focused roles.
Key responsibilities
You will provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs across the primary age range. Working closely with class teachers, you will assist with planning and delivering differentiated learning activities. You will support pupils’ engagement, emotional development, and confidence, helping to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. The role involves working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals, supporting the monitoring of EHCP targets and pupil progress, and encouraging independence and resilience in learners.
The ideal candidate
We welcome applications from recent graduates from all subject backgrounds, with Psychology, Education, English, Maths, or Science being particularly desirable. You will have a genuine interest in working with primary-aged children and supporting a wide range of learning needs. You will be patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning. Previous experience working with children, such as tutoring, volunteering, school placements, or youth clubs, is beneficial but not essential.
