Job Description
As a Lead Teacher, you will be providing effective leadership and management on a College site, for 14-19 year olds. You will manage the educational environment, to deliver a high quality, safe, and secure education provision, which supports and motivates students who have complex needs and behaviours.
You will be willing to teach for a minimum of 2 days per week, with 3 days of fulfilling the leadership and management responsibilities.
This role requires a full driving licence, and access to a car.
Main Duties & Accountabilities
Teaching and learning:
1. Teaching Functional skills in Maths and/or English.
2. Building effective and supporting relationships with students and families/carers, and embedding that trust and support within the education process.
3. Managing, implementing, and monitoring the timetable, so that teachers and support staff are deployed effectively and efficiently, ensuring learner success.
4. Overseeing and coordinating the development of your subject(s) area.
5. Planning, producing, and updating schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements, taking into account guidance from the DfE and other regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance with all current requirements.
Leadership and management:
6. Managing and analysing performance data, and reporting to the Centre Manager, taking appropriate actions to address areas of underperformance.
7. Leading improvements on the quality of teaching and learning, through following and implementing the College’s observation of teaching and learning procedures.
8. Managing and implementing the contribution review process, by setting targets for individual and team performance, managing direct reports, and dealing with staff underperformance in an effective and timely manner.
9. Supporting the training and development of staff, to ensure the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
