Lyme Valley Practice is looking for someone with commitment and passion to provide a first-class service to patients and to work within a friendly clinical team as a Health Care Assistant. This is a part-time post of 17 hours to be worked on Fridays: 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm.

Job responsibilities
The Health Care Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The Health Care Assistant will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care programmes and run their own clinics within their competency.
Duties and responsibilities include:
* A range of health checks
* ECG recording
* Blood pressure monitoring
* Wound care
* Weight management
* Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
* Summarising paper records and read coding of clinical letters
* Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
* Vaccine and cold-chain storage, monitoring and recording
* Ordering of clinical stocks and equipment
* Managing clinical waste
* Surgical equipment and vaccine restocking and stock rotation
* Cleaning and restocking consulting rooms
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of a GP Clinical System
* Previous phlebotomy experience
* Experience of working in a General Practice setting
* Dealing with the public/patients

* Competent in basic health-care duties required for the post

* Ability to communicate routine information that requires tact and persuasive skills, or where there may be barriers to understanding
* Ability to organise own time and workload and cope with last minute changes
