Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person with relevant experience and skills to join our Monitoring Laboratory based in Leeds. You will be directly contributing to the Environment Agency response to climate change by working within a small team carrying out the analysis of solid and liquid environmental samples.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a high‑quality analytical service within defined time, cost and quality targets as part of a team.
* Analyse samples using a variety of extraction techniques and state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation.
* Keep work areas tidy and ensure Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.
* Carry out routine laboratory tasks (routine calibrations, stock control, making of analytical standards).
* Attend sites which may include overnight stays as part of the Waste team.
* Participate in the Pollution incident rota.
Qualifications
* Good communication skills are essential.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads.
* Experience of working within a quality standard or within a UKAS accredited laboratory is desirable but not essential.
* Must have a full UK driving licence.
* Successful candidate will carry out a colour vision test.
Training and Development
Full training in asbestos analysis will be provided and will allow the successful candidate to work towards asbestos qualifications P401, P402 and P403.
