The Role
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Recovery Operative to join our growing team. You will be operating our Volvo FH Globetrotter commercial heavy recovery truck and Scania R500 low loader, carrying out challenging recovery operations and long-distance transport across the UK and Europe.
This is a varied role that can involve days, nights, and extended periods away throughout the UK and Europe depending on workload.
Key Responsibilities:
* General recovery of broken down or accident-damaged lorries and buses.
* Carry out winch-outs, rollovers, jack-knifes, and accident recovery, often supporting the emergency services.
* Undertake international recovery operations where required.
* Operate the Volvo FH Globetrotter heavy recovery vehicle safely and effectively.
* Drive the Scania R500 low loader for long-distance movements, collecting and transporting vehicles throughout the UK and Europe.
* Support light to medium recovery services during quieter periods.
* Assist commercial roadside technicians and our 24-hour commercial workshop with recoveries and the movement of commercial vehicles.
* Ensure accurate completion of recovery reports and job documentation.
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial vehicle recovery (essential).
* Valid Category C+E (Class 1) licence (essential).
* Proven experience in heavy recovery (including winching, rollovers, and jack-knifes).
* Experience using APEX systems (desirable).
* IVR Levels 1, 2 & 3 qualifications (desirable).
* Mechanical background / knowledge of vehicle mechanics (advantageous).
* Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel for European recovery.
* Must successfully pass a DBS check.
* Ability to work under pressure in varied roadside conditions.
* Professional and customer-focused approach.
