Talent Acquisition Business Partner - UK Ministry of Defence - Defence Digital

Our Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (TSCM) team is part of the Defence Electromagnetic Authority (DEMA) Team, who deliver crucial Defence enterprise-wide services, to enable military capability to use the electromagnetic spectrum globally.

As a Communications Engineer, working in our TSCM team, you’ll assist with conducting TSCM assessments. These assessments are technical and physical counter surveillance assessments, using highly sophisticated equipment, for the detection of concealed devices and identification of security vulnerabilities within offices, building infrastructure, furniture and office equipment, reducing the MOD’s exposure to eavesdropping and information exploitation.

Using a range of test equipment, you’ll conduct assurance on various Defence assets, analysing the data collected, to produce reports for customers, advising them of their level of compliance against legislation and suggesting any remedial actions, where appropriate.

In addition to carrying out inspections on Ministry of Defence (MOD) assets and assisting with detailed reports, you’ll support a range of projects, such as capability research, development and testing.

This is a customer-facing role, working closely with our MOD customers and partners across government, so you’ll need good interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex technical data in a clear way.

What you'll be doing:

* Assisting with conducting Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (TSCM) Assessments of areas as directed.
* Assisting with scoping and planning, to ensure tasks are conducted effectively.
* Assisting with the completion of task reports, identifying activities undertaken.
* Managing the equipment holdings of the section, ensuring they are working correctly, calibrated, packed and ready to deploy on trial at short notice.
* Supporting the Senior TSCM Engineer in the output of TSCM tasks.
* Testing military facilities using a range of electronic test equipment.
* Providing technical advice and guidance to MOD and Government customers.
* Interacting with industry, international experts and policy teams, to keep abreast of technical and policy changes.

About you:

You'll need:

* Security awareness, with excellent attention to detail.
* Experience of using Office 365 applications.
* Good communication skills, verbal and written skills (including technical report writing, verbal briefings and presenting).
* Ability to work well as part of a team, supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge.
* A broad understanding and awareness of the Electromagnetic environment and/or counter eavesdropping.
* Experience or knowledge of working in testing or assurance.
* Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of personnel and act with integrity and discretion.
* Great organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
* Commitment and desire to continue to learn and develop your technical skills.
* Minimum Level 3 qualification (such as BTEC or A-level) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics-related discipline or demonstrable experience.
* A current valid UK driving licence (Category B).

Additional information

An annual Market Skills Allowance of up to £9,000 is payable for this post linked to experience, level of professional development and an assessment performance, including contribution to team objectives.

Our commitment to your development is fundamental and training will be provided for this post. You’ll be able to take advantage of fantastic learning and development opportunities, tailored to your role and work toward the Deep Specialist role profile on the Government Science and Engineering (GSE) Career Framework, November 2021 (Version 2).

Hybrid working is limited (but occasionally possible), owing to the need to access secure systems.

This job will involve significant travel away from home, at locations both in the UK and abroad but this is expected to be no more than 2 weeks at a time, and no more than 16 weeks per year.

Working at MOD Blandford Forum:

* Set in one of the UK’s top Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), offering a variety of local walks, cycle rides and friendly pubs, all with easy access (30min drive) to Bournemouth and Salisbury.
* A modern well-equipped workplace with on-site restaurant, coffee shops and sports facilities; including free gym, squash courts, tennis courts, running track, athletics facilities, amongst many others.
* On camp cinema offering the best current films at very reasonable prices.
* On camp go-karting track and clay target shooting range – extra costs to use.
* A friendly team culture which enjoys regular social events and team building activities.

What makes us great!:
