Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting post of Lecturer in Creative Media. (2 x 0.5 roles – more info below)
You will join an established, award-winning team, reporting to the Curriculum Team Manager for Media. You will undertake an appropriate balance of curriculum delivery, assessment & verification, curriculum development, administration, guidance, support, and professional development. Drawing on your network and experience from the industry you will create and implement current and relevant learning activities for a broad range of students across FE and HE, focussing on up-to-date and emerging industry practices.
You will contribute to the development of materials for a range of college and industry-based projects, full and part-time courses and external training programmes (which may be delivered to students from other disciplines and to commercial clients). Up-to-date knowledge and skills in some of the following areas are required:
· TV and Film Production
· Camera operation and sound recording
· Working in the TV/Film Industry
· Video editing and audio production
· Motion graphics/VFX
· Multi-camera technical fundamentals
· Content creation for web and social media
· Basic Games Development (Desirable)
The nature of FE/HE in a college setting involves working with a diverse range of students and stakeholders and relies on core values of adaptability, a student-centred approach, innovation and collaboration.
As a school we are currently growing with the development of a new BA (Hons) Film Degree in addition to our Schools Foundational Apprenticeship courses and University of the Arts FE provision. Subsequently, we are advertising for 2 x 0.5 roles as require specialism in both our FE and Schools curriculum and HE curriculum. However, we would consider merging these roles into a single full-time post for a suitable candidate.
Above all else we are looking for someone with an up-to-date and forward-thinking approach to creative media production who is passionate about the subject and can relate to students at various level through their ongoing industry involvement.
You need to be educated to degree (SCQF9) level in a relevant discipline, and be familiar with current Scottish Government policy and strategies in relation to Further Education and related areas. Experience of Education Scotland’s Quality Framework and awarding body regulation and college reviews would be preferable.
