We're now looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our team in Devonport, Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a highly regulated Defence environment, helping to shape exceptional outcomes for our client. Due to the nature of this Defence project, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is highly desirable.

You’ll be responsible for:

1. Protecting our client's commercial interests through effective contract management, leadership and support across the wider delivery team.
2. Ensuring contractual obligations are clearly understood and consistently applied, proactively managing events to maintain programme predictability.
3. Overseeing NEC contractual processes, including variations and change events, working closely with Project and Package Managers.
4. Managing commercial communications in line with governance requirements, including early warning and compensation events.
5. Collaborating with PMO, Planning, Risk and other integrated teams to maintain commercial best practice and informed decision making.
6. Attending key client meetings, coordinating outcomes, actions and stakeholder expectations professionally.
7. Communicating and manage contract variations effectively, ensuring commercial clarity before resources or capital are committed.
8. Ensuring the project maintains an accurate and current estimate of total cost throughout its lifecycle.
9. Supporting contractual handovers and contribute to high quality commercial reporting for project leadership.

You’ll need to have:

10. Strong experience managing NEC contracts (ideally NEC4) within complex or regulated environments, with CEMAR experience preferred.
11. Background in nuclear or Defence projects is highly desirable.
12. Solid understanding of contract terms and conditions, ensuring they are applied consistently.
13. Confident operating in client facing settings, representing Mace professionally.
14. Skilled in analysing commercial data, producing reports and communicating clear insights.
15. Experience working within integrated project teams, supporting or leading commercial workstreams.
16. Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management in regulated sectors.
17. Awareness of sustainability, carbon and social value considerations and their impact on commercial strategy.
18. Degree in quantity surveying, cost management or related discipline.
19. Professional membership (or working towards) such as MRICS/RICS.
