Experience
Essential criteria
1. Evidence of the ability to manage and lead a team
2. Evidence to demonstrate delivery of high quality care
3. The ability to supervise junior staff and carry out ‘on the job’ training
4. Audits completed
Desirable criteria
5. Other management experience including outpatient priorities and waiting lists
6. Evidence of postgraduate teaching (courses run, lectures given etc)
Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. Full GMC registration
8. Are on the GMC Specialist Register for Ophthalmology and have their CCT/CCST or will receive it within six months of the date of interview
9. FRCOphth or equivalent
10. Evidence of complete, structured and adequate general ophthalmic training
11. The ability to provide an up to date, expert clinical opinion in all aspects of Ophthalmology, and to take full responsibility for patients’ clinical care
12. Evidence of recent vitreoretinal subspecialty training, preferably at an internationally recognised centre
Desirable criteria
13. Higher Degrees in Retinal Studies
14. Evidence of recent medical retina subspecialty training
15. Management courses successfully completed
