An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Emergency Practitioner with a background in Nursing or Paramedic to join the Urgent Community Response Services at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. The post holder will be a registered Nurse, Paramedic, or Allied Health Professional who, acting within their professional boundaries, will deliver comprehensive care to referred patients, including initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care. They will demonstrate safe and effective clinical decision‑making and provide expert care as an Emergency Practitioner within the UCR Service.
On successfully completing a 12‑month period and trust ePortfolio, mapped to the Virtual Ward and Urgent CommunityResponse Capabilities Framework, the successful candidate will progress to a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner role, as part of their ECP/ENP role over 3 years, at the next available cohort of MSc at an approved Higher Education Institution, through an apprenticeship/NHSE funded route.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess and triage patients, including providing a two‑hour response when appropriate.
* Deliver definitive treatment, including prescribing medications in line with policies, Patient Group Directives (PGDs), NICE guidelines, local clinical protocols, and care pathways.
* Make referrals to appropriate members of the primary, community, or acute care teams when necessary.
* Critically evaluate and analyse complex clinical problems, applying expertise and knowledge to inform decision‑making.
* Consult with colleagues to devise and evaluate complex care plans tailored to patients’ specific needs within their field of expertise.
* Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and maintain the highest clinical standards.
