Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Third in Charge to support the daily operations of our newly opened nursery setting. The successful candidate will assist in managing the nursery, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with management experience in early childhood settings to contribute to high-quality childcare services while developing their leadership skills. The role will be room based to support the newly developed team and to help build occupancy at the nursery. They will support with settling in sessions, carrying out baseline assessments and supporting next steps. The third in charge will lead enhanced learning opportunities with the children.
Duties
* Assist the Nursery Manager/ deputy manager in overseeing daily nursery activities and staffing
* Support the planning and implementation of educational programmes suitable for children's developmental stages
* Supervise and guide nursery staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children across the ages
* Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their child's progress and wellbeing
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
* Support staff training and development initiatives
* Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, attendance, and activity planning
* Ensure risk assessments are reviewed regularly and carried out as required
Skills
* Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
* Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and childcare best practices
* Experience working with children across various age groups
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
* Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
* Childcare qualifications recognised within the UK (e.g., Level 3 Early Years Educator) or equivalent
* Childcare experience in a nursery environment is essential
* Organised, proactive, and capable of multitasking under pressure
