Role: Quality Engineer – Contract (Outside IR35)
Location: Manchester
Hours: Monday–Friday, 37 hours
Hourly Rate: £25ph DOE

The Role
A growing manufacturing organisation is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to support production quality, implement robust process controls, and drive continuous improvement across a busy value stream. This role is ideal for someone with strong Quality Engineering experience in an AS9100 or ISO9001 environment who enjoys problem-solving and improving shop‑floor processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Support daily Quality Engineering activities within the manufacturing value stream.
* Lead APQP activity and support new product and process introductions.
* Produce PFMEAs, Control Plans and quality documentation.
* Develop and maintain process controls, including SPC and capability studies.
* Analyse production data and recommend improvement actions.
* Lead customer quality investigations using tools such as 8D and DMAIC.
* Manage supplier quality concerns and support MRB processes.
* Support internal/external audits and maintain compliance with quality standards.
* Oversee lab testing for material quality control.
* Drive continuous improvement and support Lean initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong Quality Engineering background in AS9100 or ISO9001 manufacturing.
* Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, FAIR/ISIR, and SPC.
* Ability to read engineering drawings including GD&T.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and data‑driven decision-making skills.
* Experience with material testing and process risk assessments.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
* AS9100 / ISO9001 auditing experience.
* CMM measurement experience.
* Experience in NPI and developing new processes.
* Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Gantt charts).
