EC&I Technician
Location: Lydney
Contract: Permanent
We are currently working with a client based in Lydney, who are looking for a skilled EC&I technician who can ensure that maintenance / reliability programmes and project upgrades are carried out efficiently to standard and within budgets.
Role Responsibilities – EC&I Technician
Ensure high operational availability through effective planned, preventative, and remedial maintenance.
Attend daily SQDC meetings, lead investigations, identify root causes, and implement resolutions using A3 and root cause problem-solving methods.
Diagnose and correct electrical, electronic, and software-related plant faults.
Develop and implement robust maintenance and inspection schedules in line with statutory, quality, and reliability requirements.
Maintain software backups, ensure plant electrical documentation is current, and prepare disaster recovery plans for critical equipment.
Ensure compliance with thorough reporting of breakdowns, maintain equipment history, and input maintenance requirements into SAP.
Manage and oversee contractors, ensuring competence, adherence to safety requirements, job instructions, permits, and RAMs.
Monitor KPIs, drive improvements, contribute to operational performance, and participate in the weekend standby rotation.
An ideal candidate for the EC&I technician role would have:
The candidate must have knowledge of low and medium voltage systems, AC/DC motor drives, PLC programming, and SCADA/MMI systems.
The technician will participate in daily SQDC meetings, leading investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions.
They will also support failure reduction initiatives using root cause and A3 problem-solving methods.
The role requires staying current with technical developments to improve both engineering and operational performance.
The technician must be capable of making informed and timely decisions during breakdowns, considering safety and financial impacts.
Candidates should possess strong technical knowledge across electrical, systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic mechanical disciplines, with at least five years’ experience and a relevant qualification.
They must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, project management, and computer skills, including experience with CMMS systems.
The role requires strong customer focus, problem-solving ability, decision-making skills, and a commitment to personal and team development.
