Job Overview
The primary purpose of this role is to provide specialist expertise to strengthen the Children & Families contribution to Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC). The post holder will ensure that risks and harm linked to domestic abuse are robustly identified, critically analysed, and addressed through effective, trauma‑informed, multi‑agency planning.
The role will champion the Safe & Together model, promote high‑quality, consistent practice and build workforce capability through consultation, coaching, and professional forums. A strong emphasis will be placed on learning and development, with the post holder working in partnership with the Fife Violence Against Women Partnership (FVAWP) to design and implement a Domestic Abuse training pathway.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend all MARAC meetings, including risk review meetings, providing specialist input to support the Children & Families contribution.
* Undertake preparatory work ahead of MARAC meetings, liaising with professionals involved with children and families to ensure a comprehensive understanding of presenting risks.
* Communicate MARAC discussions, decisions, and agreed actions to relevant professionals, ensuring the timely completion of Children & Families MARAC tasks.
* Attend and contribute to MARAC Management Oversight Group (MOG) meetings.
* Provide line management to MARAC Social Work Assistants, as required.
* Offer individual consultation and support to frontline practitioners to apply Safe & Together principles within assessments and plans, including consideration of relevant safeguarding legislation where appropriate.
* Strengthen the quality and consistency of practice and build workforce capability through consultation, coaching, and professional forums that support shared decision‑taking and effective multi‑agency working.
* Promote positive risk‑taking and strength‑based approaches when working with perpetrators of domestic abuse, supporting creative practice that promotes safer and more effective parenting.
* Work collaboratively with FVAWP to identify, develop, and implement a Domestic Abuse training pathway covering MARAC and broader Domestic Abuse practice.
* Complete research and associated Children & Families tasks relating to DSDAS/DMF and MATAC.
* Contribute to the delivery of professional development and learning opportunities across the service in partnership with FVAWP.
* Work with a range of partners to support cross‑cutting public protection workstreams.
Person Specification
* Recognised Social Work qualification.
* Accredited post‑qualifying award (e.g. Certificate in Child Protection Studies, Mental Health Officer Accreditation, Practice Teacher Award).
* Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
* Significant post‑qualifying experience delivering statutory social work services within a Children & Families environment.
* Extensive experience, knowledge, and understanding of MARAC processes.
* Strong critical analysis skills and the ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgement.
* Ability to produce clear, comprehensive, and evidence‑based reports.
* Strong collaboration skills, with confidence working across multi‑agency settings.
* Effective organisational, presentation, and planning skills.
* Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Competent in the use of standard IT systems and software.
