Job Title: Street Lighting Electrician
Location: Central Depot (Service-Based Role)

Hours: 37 per week

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Street Lighting Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of street lighting systems, illuminated traffic signs, and associated electrical infrastructure.
This is a hands-on position working both above and below ground to ensure the safe and efficient operation of public lighting across the borough.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, maintain, and repair street lighting equipment, including both new and existing systems
* Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on lighting systems and underground cable networks
* Undertake inspection and testing of electrical installations and complete relevant certification
* Carry out cable jointing on underground electrical distribution networks
* Operate plant and equipment including Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)
* Work safely at height using appropriate access equipment (ladders, scaffolding, MEWPs)
* Ensure all work complies with electrical safety regulations and safe working practices
* Maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working condition
* Accurately complete daily documentation and report defects, incidents, or variations
* Set up and maintain safe working zones in line with Chapter 8 requirements
* Carry out inspections of contractor work when required
* Undertake occasional lone working
Additional Duties
* Trim vegetation around lighting assets to ensure safe access
* Provide excellent customer service when interacting with members of the public
* Support other duties as required within the scope of the role
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Electrician meeting Highway Electrical Training and Competency Scheme standards
* Proven experience in street lighting maintenance and installation
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Experience working with underground cable networks and jointing
* Knowledge of electrical inspection and testing procedures
* Understanding of Health & Safety regulations and safe systems of work
* Ability to work at height and in outdoor environments
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
* IPAF / MEWP certification
* G39 / GS38 certification
* Experience working within a local authority or highways environment
* Basic IT skills
